We got up around 8am and relaxed outside--drinking coffee and eating an orange & grapefruit off of our trees.

We decided that we were going to go hiking this morning and then see about Dad going golfing. We left the house and went the wrong way according to the GPS...recalculating...and arrived at the trailhead around 11:15am. We took our time on the hike to take some pictures of the beautiful scenery.

Here are my favorite shoes and the best hiking socks ever (thanks Bowe's!) Jason strongly dislikes...I would even say Hates...my shoes but they are so comfortable! I did change into hiking shoes before we took off.
Here is Dad and I at the trailhead...

Here are views of the trail. It is a 1.75 mile trail...out and back so 3.5 miles total. You can see the tiny specks that are people on the trail.

You reach the highest point on the trail around 3/4 miles into the trail. You basically go up for 3/4 mile, then down, then up and then down again...then you turn around and do it all over again. About 1.25 miles into the trail, they warn you that it is not a loop trail.

There is also a few points along the trail where you can go rock climbing. They are well marked that you can't go beyond that point if you are just hiking.

This is what a dead saguaro looks like...

This is for my brother...what kind of scrat is that??
Oh look, I am a poet and I don't know it! HeHeHeHe

This is Dad checking out the little signs. He learned that the Saguaro Cactus grows arms starting around age 75...

These are my favorite houses along the trail...

I love this pool...but I wouldn't want to live there--everyone would be watching you in your pool.

This is by far my favorite house along the way. I would just like to live in the guest house--think I could buy just the guest house? It is probably bigger than my whole house.

Here a few more that I like...the first one has a rounded pool!

OK...NOW FOR THE QUIZ SHOW....$1 for each correct answer :)
What is this??

You might say a tree...but BUZZ you would be wrong, it's a rock!

What is Bob doing??

You might say checking out the golf course....DING DING DING you are correct!!

NAME THESE WILDFLOWERS....
What are these?

Well, I thought these were Globemallow but apparantly they are not. I don't know what they are.
How about these?

Again, I thought they were mexican poppies but I am wrong.
How about this one? Hint...it looks like a cactus...looks like it is dead most days...

It's an Ooctillo!
Now for what was suppose to be the extra credit round...back when I thought I knew what the above flowers were :)

How about these?

That was our exciting hike! We then stopped by Troon Golf Course so Dad could inquire about a membership. It is only like a $100,000 initiation fee and $800 a month maintenance fee. Plus, you have a credit check and background check. We then headed back to the house where Dad played a few more games of Medieval Madness and we had lunch. Now for the $5 question...what is Dad doing now while I finish this???
Napping of course...although he is having a problem since he doesn't have Ella sleeping in his arms :)

We are going to grill out this evening for dinner. If you haven't already guessed, Dad decided that he won't be swinging the golf club today. Stay tuned for our next adventure....

Bob Langer arrived into Sky Harbor airport at 10am. I went and picked him up...headed back to the house, got unpacked and then he went to play golf. He went to Orange Tree golf course in Scottsdale...according to his GPS it is only 8 miles from our house. He took my car and went to play golf while I napped. We also have Jason's high school buddy Tim in town so we had enchilada's for dinner. We watched American Idol and were happy that the local Phoenix guy is going on. Dad was done after dinner...first the head bob was going on...then he finally gave up and laid down. We let him sleep on the couch for about 30 minutes and then got him up to move to bed. He is not having a horrible reaction to the cats but he can tell there are cats in the house :(
