The Phoenix Zoo...

Monday afternoon we decided to head to the zoo. It was really, really hot outside...good thing we could find some shade at the zoo. Plus the bubblers had really cold water :)

Here are the turtles outside the gates...

A duck...

A parrot...

One of three elephants the zoo has...and his beer keg!

A lizard...

The Orangutan's!! The phoenix zoo has a baby that was born the last time they were here. She is so cute! They like to shade themselves inside the bags!

Holly and Nick inside a tree...poor Nick can barely see! We did adjust his hat!

Next was the spider monkeys. The zoo has an area you can walk into and see the monkeys up close.

Here is what a natural palm tree looks like when they don't get trimmed...

A cactus...

A zebra...

A male stork spreading his wings--protecting the female who is on a nest...

Next came the otters...they are so cute!

Here is a cute picture of Chris and Nick...

A Vulture or two or five...

An example of a Bald Eagle's Nest...it was probably 5-6 feet across...

Some Condors...

Anyone wanna see an Ostrich?

Randy got to see his coyotes...

Chris got to the javalinas...

Here a few of Holly...

The pronghorns...the male pronghorn kept playing with the plastic barrel--pushing it with his horns!

A pair of Mountain Lions...they are both female and their mother was killed so they came to the zoo...they arrived around the time the Super Bowl was being played in Arizona so they are named Eli and Brady!

We got to see a bobcat...

And some golden eagles which are huge! the one was standing on one foot!

There was a road runner that only had one wing...

Some burrow owls...

Vultures...

The Praire Dogs!!

More turtles on the way out!!
